One person is dead after what is being called an explosion in Copiah County.

The incident took place Sunday afternoon at a home in the 3000 block of Wilderness Road.

Sheriff Byron Swilley said there was one fatality in the blaze, and another three that were critically inured and flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Swilley said multiple other people were injured, but not as severely.

Fire department resources from both Copiah and Lincoln counties were on scene.
