An off-duty Forrest County Deputy led the effort to arrest a suspect wanted on multiple charges in at least four counties.
Richard Dale Dear II was wanted in Perry, Lamar, Stone and Forrest counties for charges ranging from burglary to Motor Vehicle Theft.
Deputy Jason Simon was off duty when he received information as to the whereabouts of Dear.
Simon put his uniform back on and coordinated with the deputies.
Troy Russell and LaWinston Hayes to make the arrest.
“I am thankful and blessed to have individuals working at the Sheriff’s Office who are committed to serving, not just while on-duty, but going above a beyond even when they are off-duty to make Forrest County a little bit safer!” said Sheriff Charlie Sims.
