Not one but TWO Mississippians make it to the final five on American Idol

Two Mississippi natives have made it to the top five of “American Idol.”

Last night three contestants were cut, narrowing the contest down to five finalists.

Two of those finalists are from Monroe County: Colin Stough, 18, an HVAC technician from Gattman, and Zachariah Smith, a 19-year-old from Amory, who works at his parents restaurant Bill’s Hamburgers.

Multi-time Grammy Award winners Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran joined Luke Bryan as guest judges on Sunday’s episode of American Idol. Regular judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie were overseas for the coronation celebration, promoting a call-in to the show from the newly crowned King of England himself.
