Wiggins man charged after stolen ATV recovered in investigation

WIGGINS — A Wiggins man has been arrested and charged after investigators recovered a stolen Honda side-by-side utility vehicle taken during a commercial burglary, according to the Wiggins Police Department.

Police said officers were notified June 24 of a burglary at a commercial building within the city.

Investigators determined that an unknown suspect cut two locks securing the building, entered the property and stole a Honda side-by-side.

During the investigation, officers gathered evidence and conducted interviews that led them to identify Harley Arkwright of Wiggins as a suspect. Additional interviews with community members and potential witnesses further connected Arkwright to the burglary, police said.

Deputies with the Stone County Sheriff’s Department later located Arkwright in Stone County and detained him without incident. Wiggins investigators, working alongside sheriff’s deputies, interviewed Arkwright, and information obtained during that interview led officers to the stolen side-by-side, which was recovered.

Arkwright has been charged with one count of burglary of a commercial building and one count of grand larceny.

The Wiggins Police Department thanked the Stone County Sheriff’s Department and members of the community for their assistance during the investigation.
