BROOKHAVEN — Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue is trying to reunite a large tortoise found in Brookhaven with its owner.
The rescue group said the tortoise, which weighs more than 100 pounds, was found over the weekend.
Anyone who believes the tortoise belongs to them is asked to contact Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue through its Facebook page or by calling 601-672-1418.
The organization said anyone claiming the animal will be required to provide proof of ownership.
Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue said it is not currently looking for a new home for the tortoise and is focused on finding its family.
