The aggravated assault happened in the 5000 block of Sharp Street, according to police.
Investigators said the victims, an adult man and an adult woman, went to the location to check on a vehicle. While they were waiting on an unknown person, someone driving a gray Honda drove by and fired shots at them.
Both victims were hit and taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Police said the suspect is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
