Coahoma County Fire Department assists with Mississippi River body recovery operation

COAHOMA COUNTY – The Coahoma County Fire Department assisted in a multiagency body recovery operation on the Mississippi River on June 6.

According to the department, Coahoma County fire personnel and the sheriff’s office assisted several agencies during the recovery effort.

The Coahoma County Fire Department worked alongside representatives from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Helena Fire Department, DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, Phillips County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Task Force 1 and DeSoto County Emergency Services.

Officials said the operation highlighted the importance of regional cooperation between emergency response agencies on both sides of the Mississippi River.

The department said resources and personnel were coordinated to safely conduct the recovery operation.

The Coahoma County Fire Department thanked all agencies involved for their professionalism, dedication and commitment during the incident.
