RANKIN COUNTY – A 14-year-old will be tried as an adult in Rankin County Circuit Court after authorities said he escaped from a juvenile detention facility, stole a vehicle and led deputies on a chase.

According to authorities, William Kobe Mack is the same person who was captured after escaping from the Rankin County Juvenile Detention Facility in Pelahatchie earlier this month.

Deputies said that as they closed in during the manhunt, Mack stole a vehicle and led law enforcement on a high-speed chase before he was captured.

Mack is currently facing felony charges of motor vehicle theft, fleeing, grand larceny, escape and malicious mischief.

After being transferred to the Rankin County Adult Detention Center, Mack’s bond was set at $340,000.
