TUPELO — A Saltillo man was arrested and charged with felony marijuana trafficking and felony possession of hydrocodone after a traffic stop in Tupelo and a follow-up search at a residence, according to the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit.

Agents said they stopped a 2022 Ford Bronco on Feb. 10 on North Gloster Street for an equipment violation and identified the driver as Octavious Nathaniel Coleman, 38, of Saltillo.

Investigators said probable cause was developed during the stop, and a vehicle search led to the seizure of about one pound of suspected marijuana and several dosage units of suspected hydrocodone.

After the stop, agents executed a search warrant at a residence on Mandi Drive in Saltillo, where they said they found more than 15 pounds of suspected marijuana, additional dosage units of suspected hydrocodone, two firearms and $76,970 in U.S. currency.

Coleman was charged with felony trafficking of marijuana and felony possession of hydrocodone.

Lee County Justice Court Judge Marilyn Reed denied bond because Coleman was already out on a felony bond on a previous charge at the time of his arrest, officials said.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
