JACKSON — A 31-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday night on East McDowell Road, according to the Jackson Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched at about 8:41 p.m. to the 400 block of East McDowell Road, near 411 E. McDowell Road, after a report of a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash.
According to an accident investigator’s preliminary report, an unknown vehicle traveling east on McDowell Road struck a male pedestrian who was believed to be in a wheelchair in the middle of the street. Police said the driver did not remain at the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead, and his body was recovered by the coroner. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
