JACKSON – Mississippi Emergency Management Agency warned that dangerously cold temperatures are expected across Mississippi this weekend, with wind chills in many areas near or below zero.
The agency said the cold weather is expected to begin Friday night and continue through noon Sunday.
Officials noted that some residents remain without power following last week’s winter weather and urged people who need a warm place to stay to check for available shelters in their area.
The agency said shelter locations listed on its website are those reported to the state by county officials. If a warming shelter is not listed for a particular area, residents are encouraged to contact local city or county officials for information on available help.
