HOLMES COUNTY — Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a woman was found dead with apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle following a reported single-car crash in Holmes County, authorities said.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded early Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, to a call about a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 51 near State Park Road. Troopers found a female dead in the driver’s seat with apparent gunshot wounds, officials said.
A passenger in the vehicle was not injured, authorities said.
The case remains open, and no further details were released.
