LAUREL — The Jones County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 28-year-old woman Tuesday afternoon after a brief foot chase in Laurel.

Deputy Davy Keith made contact with Deja Lindsey in the 1100 block of McConkey Street. Lindsey was wanted on a Jones County Circuit Court bench warrant for failure to appear for a status hearing, the sheriff’s department said.

Authorities said the warrant was connected to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in the death of another person.

The sheriff’s department said Lindsey fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later after being pursued by Keith.

Lindsey was being held at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility and was scheduled to make an initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
