(Photo: MS Museum of Natural Science)JACKSON — The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is inviting families to celebrate the holiday season with a series of festive “Museum Merriment” events, including turkey encounters, snowfalls, and a scuba-diving Santa.
“Our Museum Merriment events bring nature to life for our visitors as they make joyful memories with family and friends,” said museum director Angel Rohnke.
The museum, operated by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, will remain fully open to visitors while undergoing renovations, and all events will continue as scheduled.
Events include:
Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Learning Gouache with Ellen Langford, an art workshop for adults and older teens. Pre-registration is required.
Nov. 9, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Daisy Girl Scouts: Math in Nature Workshop, exploring numbers, shapes, and patterns in the natural world. Open to scouts and the public; pre-registration required.

Dec. 2-23: Santa Feeds the Fish, held Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., where Santa scuba dives in the aquariums. Included with admission or membership.
Dec. 5, 9 a.m. to noon: S.T.E.M. with Snowflakes, featuring hands-on experiments, crafts, and stories. Included with admission or membership.
Dec. 13, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: Snow Much Fun, with snowfalls, winter crafts, S.T.E.M. experiments, and a snowball maze. Special ticket required.
