Mississippi Department of Health’s Victor D. Sutton, Ph.D, Director of the Office of Preventive Health and Health Equity, has been invited to share his COVID-19 task force’s successes during the COVID-19 pandemic at the American Public Health Association’s conference this weekend in Boston.
MSDH wrote on Facebook that Sutton’s team got creative and partnered with barbershops, salons, religious and civic organizations, Hispanic and Vietnamese connections, engaged youth, elected officials and others to boost COVID-19 vaccination uptake within diverse communities across the state.
The work resulted in Mississippi having one of the highest COVID-19 vaccination rates for African Americans in the country.
