A mother in Lauderdale County has been charged with murder, according to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.
Her 2-year-old child, Kelly McDevitt Jr., appears to have been forcibly drowned.
The child’s mother, Adrienne McDevitt, was booked Wednesday morning on a charge of murder, with her bond set at $500,000.
Adrienne McDevitt is currently being treated at a local hospital and remains in the custody of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.
Coroner Stella McMahan announced that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Sheriff Ward Calhoun revealed that the sheriff’s department received a call regarding a disturbance in the 2600 block of Bolen Long Creek Road. Deputies and Metro responders were dispatched to the scene.
The sheriff confirmed that the department is conducting a death investigation and assured the public that, based on their findings, there is no danger to the general public.
