A woman is in the hospital after Jones County officials say her boyfriend intentionally ran over her with his Dodge pickup truck.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report on Smith Bonner Road on Thursday morning. The suspect, Joseph Lott, 41, of Moselle, also allegedly then forced entry into a nearby occupied camper trailer and assaulted a man there before fleeing the scene.

The woman was found when a Jones County School District school bus operating on its regular bus route, with children on board, drove up on the incident scene and school personnel alerted authorities to the injured female. She was transported by EMServ Ambulance Service to Forrest General Hospital for treatment of what were believed to be serious injuries.

Lott was later located and arrested by JCSD deputies at a home on Camp Road in southwestern Jones County. He is charged with one count of Domestic Aggravated Assault and one count of Home Invasion.
