According to WLBT, a man from Mississippi was shot and killed by Memphis police.

The shooting happened Monday night off Winchester Road and Lamar Avenue in Parkway Village in Memphis.

The man was identified as James West Junior from Tate County town of Sarah.

According to police, an officer was responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle off Winchester Road and Lamar Avenue.

WLBT reports that shots were exchanged between the two parties and West ran into a business nearby where he was later found dead.

The officer was listed in stable condition.

Investigators are still working to determine how the suspicious vehicle call led to shots fired.
