On February 14, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint concerning a man taking money but not doing the work on a truck.

The subject ran a mechanic shop on Highway 15 North of Richton.

The victim paid him for services to his vehicle, but the work was never done. The victim was out of the money he had paid for the services.

After further investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of 61-year-old Gary Lee Van Avery for False Pretense. He was arrested and booked into the Perry County Jail.
