An escapee is headed back to prison after he escaped the Mississippi Department of Corrections just months before he was scheduled to be released.

According to WLBT, 21-year-old Shunekndrick Huffman, pled guilty to two counts of kidnapping.

The judge sentenced him to 40 years. Huffman was only serving 7 years for aggravated assault before he decided to escape and kidnap two people, as well as steal a vehicle.

He was supposed to be released in December 2022.

In August of 2022, Huffman escaped, broke into someone’s home nearby, then held the individuals at gunpoint. He then stole one of their cars and wrecked it before getting out and running on foot.

Huffman was arrested a short time later when he was found hiding in a trash can.
