The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating a line-of-duty shooting involving Harrison County Sheriff’s Department that occurred on Thursday around 9:00 p.m. near 27648 Highway 53 in Gulfport.

Deputies were responding to a call regarding a burglary in progress when the involved subject pointed a weapon towards responding officers.

The involved subject received fatal injuries. The deputies involved did not receive any serious physical injuries during this incident.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
