US Marshal succumbs to injuries from Tuesday wreck, will be transported home Saturday

Therese Apel

On Saturday, the body of a US Marshal who died as a result of injuries he sustained in a car accident Tuesday will be transported home in a processional of fellow law enforcement officers.

The accident occurred Tuesday on Highway 49 in Florence when Keyworth‘s vehicle collided with the back of an 18 wheeler.

Law enforcement will line up at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson at 2:30 PM Saturday to escort United States Marshals Service Sr. Inspector Jared Keyworth home.

During his military service, Keyworth escorted the riderless horse as part of President Ronald Reagan’s funeral (see photo above).

For civilians who might want to honor Keyworth by lining the roads, the processional will travel down Interstate 55 to Interstate 12 to take him to Baton Rouge.

We at Darkhorse Press extend our most heartfelt condolences to and prayers for Keyworth’s family, as well as the United States Marshals and the rest of Keyworth’s law enforcement family.
