According to Jackson police, a Jackson police car was stolen late Wednesday night.
Jackson Police said that the individual took an unattended police cruiser near the King Edward Hotel. A chase followed, and other municipalities got involved.
The suspect finally crashed the cruiser near McDonalds on Woodrow Wilson.
An ambulance was on scene after the crash.
The suspect has a history of mental illness and is known in and around the Capital Complex District.
Police said the officer will receive additional training and the individual was apprehended and taken to a facility for treatment.
No injuries were reported, and no charges will be filed.
