Man injured after being shot on I-55 in Jackson

Traffic was at a standstill on I-55 for several hours Wednesday afternoon after what police say was a shooting near the Pearl Street exit.

Jackson Police Department has told reporters it was a “possible road rage incident” that left Terrance Brown injured and headed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Brown was driving a white Nissan Altima when police say someone driving a grey Mercedes pulled up next to him and shot several times, causing Brown’s vehicle to bounce off a guardrail.

Brown was shot, but is currently stable with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

In recent years, many of the shootings initially billed by police as road rage incidents have turned out to be targeted, isolated incidents.

One news report stated that the incident may have originated in Rankin County.

This is a developing story.
