On February 5, at 8:20 p.m. Panola County Sheriff’s Department received a call for service of gunshots and a person lying in the roadway on West Pearl Street in Sardis.

Deputies responded and Lt. Charles Cranford was the first on the scene. A black male was found deceased in the roadway.

The Panola County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and began processing the crime scene.
