A man is behind bars in Jackson, charged in a Friday homicide.
According to Jackson Police, officers responded to the 3000 block of Ilano Drive just after 9 p.m. in reference to a shooting with intent. When they got there, they found a black male lying in a yard with gunshot wounds all over his body. The victim ended up dying of his injuries.
Officers were able to apprehend the suspect, James Hyatt, near the crime scene and recover the murder weapon. The incident stemmed from a verbal altercation between the two men. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
