A Ridgeland man was arrested for aggravated assault Wednesday.

WLBT reports that there was a two-hour barricade situation Wednesday morning before the arrest.

Police responded to a 911 call around 10:00 a.m. at a home on Nolan Circle.

33-year-old Martin Allen barricaded himself inside of a home. WLBT reports that he had hit a man (believed to be his significant other) on the head with a shovel.

Officers worked for two hours to convince Allen to come out of the home. WLBT reports that SWAT came to the home, they used tear gas, and other tactics to get Allen to come outside.

According to WLBT, Ridgeland police said that this isn’t the first time officers have been called to the home. Neighbors said they heard them arguing loudly before the incident as well.

Martin Allen was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence. His court date is September 20th.
