On November 16, at 9:45 am, the Madison Police Department was notified by the Flowood Police Department of a stolen vehicle that possibly was seen in the Madison area.
A short time later, officers found the stolen 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck driving west on Highway 463 overpass over Interstate 55 in Madison.
When officers tried to stop the truck, at Highway 463 and Bozeman Road, the driver and vehicle fled from officers.
Officers followed the vehicle into Gluckstadt and Madison County.
The Gluckstadt Police Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Office were notified and came to help with the pursuit.
When the fleeing truck reached Gluckstadt Road and Highway 463, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road into an empty field. Officers took him into custody without incident.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as Thomas W. Cofer of Hugo, Oklahoma.
Cofer was charged with Receiving Stolen Property (Felony), Felony Fleeing and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Further investigation revealed that Cofer was also an escapee from the Choctaw County Oklahoma Jail and was wanted by that jurisdiction.
There was no property damage or injuries as a result of the pursuit. After booking, Cofer was transported to the Madison County Detention Center.
The case will be forwarded to Madison-Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett.
