Laurel Man Arrested After Chase Through Jones County

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man from Laurel after a chase.

On November 8, 38-year-old Andtel T. Shepherd was arrested and charged with Felony Fleeing, Resisting Arrest, and Reckless Driving.

Shepherd was wanted on a Jones County Circuit Court Bench Warrant for Failure To Appear for Arraignment on a Felony Fleeing charge. He led multiple Jones County Sheriff’s Department deputies on a high-speed vehicle pursuit, followed by a foot pursuit Wednesday morning.

The pursuit, which began on Susie B. Ruffin Avenue in Laurel, took a circuitous route to Windsor Court Drive in the Hoy Community where Shepherd bailed from his still-moving vehicle and fled on foot to Hoy Green Acres Drive.

Shepherd’s vehicle struck another vehicle parked in front of a house on Windsor Court Drive.

He was captured by JCSD Squad Sergeant Stephen Graeser after a spirited foot pursuit and placed under arrest.

Shepherd is incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending his initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court.
