K9 Trea Assists Picayune Police in Arrest Following Traffic Stop

Late on the night of June 25, around 11 pm, officers from the Picayune Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a gray Kia Optima in the parking lot of a business on Hwy 11 North. The situation quickly escalated when the front seat passenger, Roland Daniel Kennedy, fled on foot.

Officers recognized Kennedy and were aware of outstanding felony warrants for his arrest. K9 Trea was deployed and successfully apprehended Kennedy after a brief pursuit. He was then treated for his injuries at Highland Community Hospital before being transported to the county jail.

Kennedy has been booked and is currently incarcerated on multiple charges, including Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and outstanding warrants for Transfer of a Controlled Substance, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest.

During the commotion, the driver of the vehicle, Elmire Davis, left the scene.

Authorities have indicated that Davis will soon face warrants for Careless Driving, Resisting Arrest, and Hindering Prosecution.
