JPD investigates midday shooting in downtown Jackson

Jackson Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in the middle of downtown on Tuesday afternoon.

A car was riddled with bullets and had visible blood on the door frame. It was stopped at the corner of Lamar and Capitol Street.

News crews at the scene report that two were people loaded into an ambulance.

JPD hasn’t released any further information yet.

The shooting is just a block away from the Governor’s Mansion, where Tate Reeves gave his State of the State a few hours after the incident.
