Joseph French was officially sworn in as Chief of Police during the City of Brandon Board of Aldermen meeting on Monday night.
Current and former law enforcement officers from various federal, state, and local agencies attended and congratulated Chief French.
On hand to show their support were Chief Will Jones (Forest PD, MS Association of Chiefs of Police President), Chief Nick McLendon (Richland PD), Chief Russel James (Richland PD, retired), Chief Terry Wages (Brandon FD, retired), Commissioner Marshall Fisher (MS Department of Public Safety, retired), Supervisory Special Agent Duane Poole (Drug Enforcement Administration), and Lt. Col. Steve Cochran (MS Army National Guard).
Friends and family also attended the event.
Retired Chief of Police William Thompson congratulated the board on their selection for the new Chief and offered words of encouragement to Chief French in his new position.
