Sheriff Joe Berlin, command staff, patrol deputies, investigators, and narcotics agents responded to the intense incident with an armed male, who was the alleged shooter, inside of a mobile home with children and at least one other adult inside. The suspect eventually surrendered and the incident is currently under investigation by JCSD with charges pending against the alleged shooter who is in custody.

Units from EMServ Ambulance Service and Powers Fire & Rescue staged in the area until cleared by deputies to respond on scene. The adult female who was assaulted was initially evaluated by a JCSD tactical medic and later by EMServ and Powers emergency medical personnel. She was not wounded by gunfire in the incident, although she had allegedly been struck in the face by the alleged male shooter, but declined medical transport.

Additional information and the identity of the alleged shooter will be released by JCSD as the investigation proceeds.
