The Jones County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant on Thursday afternoon at a residence on Smith Chapel Road which was the scene of a shooting incident on Tuesday.

JCSD investigators and narcotics agents arrested Edward (Edwin) Earl Massey, age 42, on a Jones County Circuit Court failure to appear bench warrant in association with a Possession of a Weapon by Felon charge. Massey was also charged today with another charge of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon related to the shooting incident on Tuesday.

A second adult male was arrested at the residence for warrants outstanding by the Laurel Police Department and transported to LPD for processing. His name and charges will be available from LPD.

Edward (Edwin) Earl Massey is now incarcerated in the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending his initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court.
