According to WLBT, a woman named LaTiffany Chambers was sentenced to life in prison for murdering her 17-year-old daughter.
The report states that the woman also abused her other two children.
During the trial, the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office said that she was convicted of capital murder for the death of her daughter, as well as two counts of felony child abuse for abusing her 14-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter.
On Halloween of 2020, Jackson Police responded to a call on Lower Drive concerning someone who was unresponsive.
When officers arrived, they found 17-year-old Lamonica Tucker unresponsive with “obvious signs” of physical abuse. She died while being transported to the hospital.
The other two children were looked over and reported to have signs of prolonged physical abuse.
LaTiffany Chambers and step-father Danny Dabbs were both arrested. They were indicted for capital murder in the death of Tucker and feloniously abusing the other 12 and 14-year-old children.
Chambers was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and 10 years for each count of child abuse.
