A Jackson man was sentenced today to 64 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, announced U.S. Attorney Darren J. LaMarca and Special Agent in Charge Jermicha Fomby of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to court documents, on July 18, 2020, 41-year-old Tremaine Gill was found with three firearms in his possession by the Jackson Police Department during the execution of a search warrant. Gill has multiple previous felony convictions, and it is a violation of federal law for a convicted felon to possess any firearm.

Gill pled guilty on February 27, 2023, to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The case was investigated by the Jackson Police Department and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Allen prosecuted the case.

This case was prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts.
