A home was destroyed by a fire in Greenville early this morning.
On South Poplar Street, at 12:21 a.m., Greenville Fire Units were called to a residential house fire.
When firefighters arrived, Engine 1 confirmed a working structure fire.
There appeared to be a single-story, wooden framed structure, with heavy flames and smoke showing. Due to the heavy flames and unknown integrity of the structure, Engine 1 initiated a defensive attack.
The structure sustained heavy fire, heat, and smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
