On Saturday, October 28, the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office will be partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration on a nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative.

The initiative will provide the community with an opportunity to dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications and vape pens.

The public is invited to bring medications for disposal to the designated collection site in hopes of combating the increasing number of accidental poisoning overdoses and decreasing prescription drug abuse and theft.

Medications flushed down the drain can contaminate lakes and streams. This can hurt fish and other aquatic wildlife and end up in drinking water.

The drop-off locations will be open on October 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church.

DROP OFF LOCATION #1:

First Baptist Church: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (under the catwalk)

431 N. State Street Jackson, MS 39201.

DROP OFF LOCATION #2:

Christ United Church Jackson:  10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

6000 Old Canton Road Street, Jackson, MS 39211

**No sharps or needles accepted**
