Jones County Sheriff’s Department deputies were involved in a high speed pursuit on Friday in western Jones County that briefly moved in to Covington County before going back in to Jones County.

Derrell Ducksworth, age 40, led JCSD deputies Reagan Smith, Bradley Boyd, and James Stiglet on the lengthy pursuit which eventually ended on a pipeline right-of-way off of Mason  Creek Road in the Hebron Community. Multiple other JCSD patrol deputies, narcotics agents, and investigators joined the pursuit maneuvering to block escape routes.

After going off-road in his vehicle on the pipeline, Ducksworth bailed out on foot and attempted to escape into the woods. He was caught and taken into custody after fighting with deputies.

Ducksworth was arrested and charged with Felony Fleeing In A Motor Vehicle, Simple Assault On A Police Officer, and Violation Of No Contact Order. He is incarcerated at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility on a $100,000 bond issued by the Jones County Justice Court.

No JCSD personnel were injured in the incident.
