Hattiesburg Police have charged a juvenile in connection to a weekend shooting at Turtle Creek Mall.

A 16-year-old girl was turned in to authorities just before 8 p.m. Saturday. She has been charged as an adult, with four counts of aggravated assault, and additional charges are pending in the investigation.

An 18-year-old male victim arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound was also involved in the shooting. He was treated for his injury, and charges are pending upon his release from the hospital.

One other individual inside was injured by people running after the shooting occurred.

The alleged shooter and the victim are known acquaintances, police say, and were involved in an isolated altercation when they began shooting at one another inside the mall.

The individual that sustained a leg injury as other patrons were running after the shooting occurred was treated at a local hospital.

The 16-year-old was booked into the Forrest County Jail.

Hattiesburg police said the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol assistanced and responded during the incident.
