Gulfport man arrested, charged after allegedly stabbing woman over 50 times

According to WLOX, a man is in custody and charged with one count of aggravated assault after a stabbing incident.

On Thursday, Gulfport police announced that 41-year-old Nicholas Leshaun Unger is in custody and charged with one count of aggravated assault.

WLOX reports that officers were called to a home in the 15000 block of Government Street at around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived, they found a woman who had been stabbed over 50 times on her face and body.

Police told WLOX that they learned that Unger had followed the victim home after they got into an argument and attacked her.

The victim’s daughter tried to stop Unger, which helped the victim run into a bedroom. Police said Unger forced his way into the room and continued to attack her.

According to police, Unger was found on the scene and taken into custody. The victim was taken to a local hospital and was listed in critical but stable condition.

Unger is being held in the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
