A Gulfport man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman and then robbing her.
On Monday, July 19, Gulfport officers arrested Andrew Malik Jones, 28, and charged him with sexual battery and robbery.
According to WXXV, police said that the victim called to report the assault.
Gulfport officers arrived at about 6:43 p.m. in the 10000 block of Factory Shops Boulevard. The victim claimed that while in the restroom, Jones forced her into a bathroom stall where he physically assaulted and raped her.
Allegedly, Jones grabbed her purse and attempted to flee the scene, but he was detained by bystanders until police arrived.
The victim was taken to a local hospital by American Medical Response.
Jones was processed and taken to the Harrison County jail to be held on a $1,000,000 bond.
