Saturday morning at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Greenville Fire Department was dispatched to 316 East Starling Street, for a house fire.
When units arrived on scene there appeared to be several different fires inside the house. These were extinguished within minutes.
Again at 3:00 a.m., Rescue 2, Engine 1, and Command 1 were dispatched to 316 East Starling Street when the fire rekindled.
While en route, Rescue 2 advised that heavy smoke was showing in that area.
Upon arrival, the two-story vacant house was engulfed in flames and ventilating through the roof.
This rekindle was then upgraded to a working house fire.
Rescue 7 and Engine 1 were dispatched to the scene for manpower.
Fire units began to protect the exposure (another vacant structure that was nearby).
After several minutes, the second floor at the rear of the house collapsed. A few minutes after the collapse, Greenville Fire Department said they gained control of the fire.
All units put out large quantities of water to put the fire out completely without any injuries.
The Fire Department said this fire appears to be arson and is under investigation.
