Hunter Elward, a former member of the Rankin County ‘Goon Squad’ was sentenced to 20 years and one month in federal prison Tuesday morning.
U.S. District Judge Tom Lee sentenced Elward to the maximum allowed under federal law.
Last year, Hunter Elward pleaded guilty to 12 felony counts. 11 of the counts were in connection to the torture of Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Parker on January 24, 2023.
One count was in connection to a man named Alan Schmidt. That incident happened in December of 2022.
WLBT reports that Elward was also ordered to help pay $79,500 in restitution to Parker and Jenkins and is to submit to three years of supervised probation upon his release.
Court was recessed until 1:00 p.m.
