According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, on June 27, at approximately 5:40 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 29 in Jones County.

A 2000 Ford Mustang driven by 31-year-old Forrest Smith of Orlando, FL, traveled south on Highway 29 when it collided with a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 43-year-old Justin Morris of Laurel, MS, traveling north on Highway 29.

Forrest Smith died in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
