The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Highway 49 in Stone County on Saturday afternoon.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., a 2007 Toyota 4Runner driven by 37-year-old Kristen Arendale, with passenger 34-year-old Jamie Lynn Sullivan, both from Brandon, MS, was traveling north on Highway 49 when the vehicle veered off the road and overturned.
Both Arendale and Sullivan were transported to a local hospital, where Sullivan later died from her injuries.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
