On Monday July 31st, Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call about a man who had been shot.
Deputies along with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to County Road 1040 in the Thrasher Community.
The victim had been shot and assaulted.
Once the scene was secure and the ambulance arrived, the victim was airlifted from the Thrasher School to Tupelo Hospital.
63-year-old Stevie Joe Owens, who is also the victim’s father, was taken into custody.
He is being charged with Aggravated Domestic Violence.
Bond has not been set at this time. The victim has been since released from the hospital.
Investigators Jason Chism and Torie Jumper are handling the case. It will be presented to the next Prentiss County Grand Jury.
