A dog who found herself in a bad situation was rescued by a veteran police officer on Thursday.
According to Flowood Police Department, Animal Control Officer Kelon Dill responded to Fannin Road for a dog in distress with a treble hook, which is used for fishing, in her mouth.
Officer Dill immediately made accommodations for the dog to receive medical treatment from a local veterinarian. Dr. Richard Kirby with Hometown Veterinarian Hospital sedated the four-legged friend and successfully removed the hook. The dog is now at the Rankin County Animal Shelter making a full recovery.
Throughout the incident, police say the owner was not located and the dog did not have on a collar.
