According to authorities, there was a disturbance Saturday evening at the Hinds County Jail which left a guard with minor injuries, and drew a response from several agencies.

Sheriff Tyree Jones said the situation was a disturbance between two of the units, and as of roughly 6:30 p.m., it was under control.

We were able to confirm that in addition to Hinds County resources, Capitol, Richland, Raymond, Byram, Clinton, and Jackson police departments, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Ridgeland Police Department’s Special Response Team all responded to the situation.
