Have you ever heard of a “Zorse?” There are only around 100 in the world and one lives right here in Brandon, Mississippi.
According to www.animals.howstufworks.com, zorses come in all shapes and sizes but they’re usually covered in more stripes like their mothers. A zorse is a male horse and a female zebra.
A zorse lives at McClain Lodge in Brandon, Mississippi at the Safari Petting Zoo!
If you want to meet this rare animal, the safari and petting zoo are open every day from 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Although a lot of horses are more social animals with humans, zorses are usually standoffish and difficult to train.
With hybrid animals, although they have traits of both parents, they are also very different in some ways. They are always infertile because when two parent animals have a different number of chromosomes, then their chromosomes cannot pair up correctly during meiosis.
Zorses are often prone to dwarfism and run smaller than either of their parents.
